Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC)
The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (J.S.S.C.) was established under the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Act 2008 (Jharkhand Act 16, 2008), which was officially published in Gazette notification no. 829 dated 6th December 2008 by the Jharkhand Government. Subsequently, the Act underwent amendments through Jharkhand Act 03, 2011, and Jharkhand Act 19, 2011, which were published in Gazette notification nos. 153 dated 24th February 2011 and 687 dated 11th October 2011, respectively. Initially, the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission office was located at Dhurwa, Ranchi, until 1st August 2016. However, due to inadequate space to meet the Commission's actual requirements, its office was relocated to Kalinagar, Chaay Bagan, Namkum, Ranchi, Jharkhand – 834010. The foundation stone for this new office was laid by the former Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Hemant Soren. The office was later inaugurated on 2nd August 2016 by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Raghuvar Das.
Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC)
The State of Jharkhand was established on the 15th of November 2000. The Jharkhand Academic Council Act 2002 was enacted by the Jharkhand State Legislature, receiving assent from the honorable Governor of the State on 26.02.2003, and officially notified by the government on 04.03.2003. The primary objective behind forming the Jharkhand Academic Council was to conduct examinations for Intermediate, Secondary, Madhyama, and Madarsa from Vastaniyan to Fazil levels. Additionally, the Council was responsible for prescribing courses of study for these examinations, recommending recognition of Intermediate Educational Institutions, High Schools, Sanskrit Schools, and Madrasas to the State Government, and conducting other examinations assigned by the State Government. Upon its establishment, the Jharkhand Academic Council replaced several existing education boards, including the Bihar Intermediate Education Council Act, 1992, the Bihar School Examination Board Act, 1952 (adapted as Jharkhand Secondary Examination Board Act, 2000), Bihar Sanskrit Education Board Act, 1981, and Bihar Board of Madrasa Education Board Acts, 1981. Initially, the Jharkhand Academic Council operated from a rented house in Rameshwaram, Ranchi, where the office of Jharkhand Intermediate Council was previously located. The Secondary portion continued to function at the zila school Ranchi campus. After an extensive search, the Council was eventually housed in a portion of the Birsadih Club Hawai Nagar, Ranchi, on rent. The present office was inaugurated by the honorable Chief Minister Sri Arjun Munda on 13.12.2003 under the Chairmanship of the then HRD Minister Sri Pashupati Nath Singh. The State Government's dynamic leadership brought all branches of education, including Secondary, Intermediate, Sanskrit (Madhyama), and Madarsa, under the unified umbrella of the Jharkhand Academic Council. This move aimed to provide equal and comprehensive attention to all branches of learning, ensuring their growth and development. To further enhance the education system, the Jharkhand Academic Council introduced the CBSE curriculum from the primary to Intermediate levels, allowing students to integrate seamlessly into the national education program. The CBSE recognized all examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council and issued a no-objection certificate for the implementation of the CBSE curriculum. Moreover, the Council's examinations received recognition from COBSE (Council of Boards of School Education in India), leading to recognition of Jharkhand's examinations by other Boards/Councils in the country. To facilitate the teaching of CBSE courses, the Council organized Orientation Courses and Workshops in collaboration with eminent Scholars. These efforts aimed to elevate the quality of education and ensure that students had access to comprehensive and contemporary learning opportunities.
